What an exciting 3 weeks for us and our little nieces and nephews! Sinterklaas officially arrived in the Netherlands on the 17th of November 2018 and will be here for 3 weeks until his birthday on the 5th of December 2018.

It was Brett’s first Sinterklaas, so we decided to meet them in person, in Glanerbrug. The old man arrived on a carriage and had lots of Zwarte Pieten helpers with him. The brass marching band greeted them in the main road together with 100s of little kids and their parents…What presents will he bring this year? Has everybody been well behaved during the year? Hopefully, he won’t forget us?
After the grand tour through town, we walked home and had traditional hot chocolate with whipped cream and pepernoten. After that, the kids put one of their shoes in front of the fireplace and sing really loudly, so that Sinterklaas can hear them. Of course, there was a carrot for the horse and some cookies for the Zwarte Pieten. Oh and please don’t forget the extensive wishlist from the kids, so that Sinterklaas knows exactly what to buy 🙂
Next week Sinterklaas will visit our family and some more presents will be unwrapped! What excitement!
